The Three Amigos

Love of Soccer and the Retail Furniture Business bring Partners Together

For more than 30 years, brothers Filippo and Sal Galioto and Fred Cesano have remained business partners and good friends. To this day, they have stayed true to their original retail furniture business mission to focus on casual dining retail furniture and do so better than anyone else in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their business has not only generated profits but generations of loyal customers, as well.

Here’s how this partnership came about:
Brothers Filippo and Sal Galioto came to America from Sicily in 1967. After graduating from Aragon High School in San Mateo, older brother Filippo enrolled in the Canada Junior College in Redwood City, where he met soccer teammate and future business partner, Fred Cesano. One year later, brother Sal joined Filippo at Canada College and also become a member of the soccer team.

In 1972, the three helped Canada win the Soccer State Championship and formed a lifelong bond. Filippo and Fred later moved on to San Jose State, where Fred worked part-time at a small retail furniture store in Millbrae, called the House of Stools and Bars. Here he learned the retail furniture industry, first-hand, while developing a passion for the retail furniture business.

Five years later, he left House of Stools and Bars to open his own store and asked Filippo to become his business partner. Three years later, Sal sold his interest in a small window covering business to join his brother and good friend.
